Baptist Student Foundation
The Found is a campus ministry at Purdue. If you are interested in getting involved, contact Shawn Zambrows (call the church office (765) 742-5223 for contact information).
University Church, formerly located in West Lafayette near the Purdue Campus, has moved its Worship, Sunday School, Youth Group, and offices to 411 N 7th Street. This is the site of First Baptist Church which has welcomed University Church to join in its mission of spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ and serving Greater Lafayette through its many mission programs. Both congregations have Biblically based messages and offer contrasting styles of worship. Where First Baptist Church is more traditional in its style of worship, University Church “serves up a traditional message with an untraditional style”. Some members are known to worship in both services because they offer different experiences; one is more meditative and the other is more praise-oriented. Both congregations preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and its emphasis on love and acceptance of difference. All are invited to worship with one or both congregations to learn more about how to make the Christian Gospel and its message of service and “love for all”, real in our world.
We cooperate and meet together with the other downtown churches. We join together for Taize Worship Services and an outdoor worship service around July 4th. We also partner together for Vacation Bible School.
American Baptist Churches
We join together with the American Baptist Churches of the USA in many ways, including mission work. We partner with the American Baptist Churches of Indiana and Kentucky (our denominational region), and the churches within the Northwest Area of our region.
We partner with Family Promise to help families struggling with homelessness. In particular we join with Brown Street United Methodist Church to help house, feed, and help homeless families.
Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM)
We partner with LUM in various ways to help people who are struggling with poverty in our community.
We work with Food Finders to provide baked goods for people in need at our church every Friday. People can come in and wait in our building starting at 10:00 am, and then we give away the baked goods at 11:00 am. All baked goods are usually gone by 11:15 am.
