Rev. Kim Brewer is a native of Lewisville, Texas, where she grew up and attended Texas Women’s University before moving to the Chicagoland area in 2001 with the intent of pursuing a career in the corporate world.
Ten years later, after experiencing a life-changing event, she moved back to her home state of Texas to pursue a Master of Divinity degree at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. After her first preaching class with Dr. W. Hulitt Gloer, she realized that God was calling her to be a pastor.
In 2019, an opportunity presented itself, and Kim was selected to fill the newly-created position of Associate Pastor at Pantano Baptist Church. In May 2019, she began her new duties and moved to Tucson, along with her husband Jason.
Kim and Jason have been married since 2017, and they have an adult son who lives in Texas. Their current household includes 2 dogs and a cat (who thinks she is a dog). Kim enjoys reading and writing, but not arithmetic. She also enjoys watching British TV shows, traveling with Jason, and dreaming about the mid-century furniture she would love to buy.
She believes that God is calling her to use her life experience to communicate the gospel message of loving God and loving neighbor as well as working to empower and encourage his people to take an active role in the priesthood of the believer. She is very passionate about issues such as mental health, economic justice, and racial equity and she desires to incorporate these areas into her ministry to effect positive change in the congregation and community. This fall, she will begin the journey to completing her Master of Divinity with a concentration in Christian Community Development at Northern Seminary (as part of the Teaching Church Initiative partnership between Northern & ABC Indiana/Kentucky).
