Prelude – “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus” arr. Bober – Melanie Manges
Welcome to Worship – Harriet Coppoc
Gathering Song – “Be Still, for the Spirit of the Lord” – Worship Team
Be still, for the Spirit of the Lord, the Holy One is here.
Come, bow before him now, with reverence and with fear.
In him no sin is found, we stand on holy ground.
Be still, for the Spirit of the Lord, the Holy One, is here.
Call to Worship* – Harriet Coppoc
Come, let us sing to Yahweh;
Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come into the Divine presence with thanksgiving;
Let us make a joyful noise to God with songs of praise!
It is good to give you thanks, O Yahweh;
To sing praises to your name, O Most High;
to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night,
to the music of the lute and harp,
to the melody of the lyre.
For you, O God, have made us glad by your work;
At the works of your hands we sing for joy.
Hymn of Praise – “Come and Find the Quiet Center”
VERSE 1
Come and find the quiet center
in the crowded life we lead,
Find the room for hope to enter,
find the frame where we are freed;
Clear the chaos and the clutter,
clear our eyes, that we can see
All the things that really mater,
be at peace, and simply be.
VERSE 2
Silence is a friend who claims us,
cools the heat and slows the pace,
God it is who speaks and names us,
knows our being, touches base,
Making space within our thinking,
lifting shades to show the sun,
Raising courage when we’re shrinking,
finding scope for faith begun.
Children’s Sermon – Rev. Lisa Williams Hood
Invitation to Prayer – Rev. Hood
“All the Way My Savior Leads Me” arr. Pethel
Melanie Manges, Piano
Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer – Rev. Hood
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
New Testament Reading – Luke 6:1-16 – Rev. Hood
Sermon – A Limitless Sabbath – Rev. Hood
Hymn of Discipleship – “I Lift My Eyes to the Quiet Hills”
VERSE 1
I lift my eyes to the quiet hills
in the press of a busy day;
As green hills stand in a dusty land
so God is my strength and stay.
VERSE 2
I lift my eyes to the quiet hills,
to a calm that is mine to share;
Secure and still in the Father’s will
and kept by the Father’s care.
VERSE 4
I lift my eyes to the quiet hills
and my heart to the Father’s throne;
In all my ways to the end of days
the Lord will preserve his own.
Offering – Rev. Hood
Almighty God, giver of every good and perfect gift,
Teach us to give to you all that we have and all that we are,
That we might praise you not with our words only,
But with our whole lives. Amen.
