Volunteer Opportunities

First Baptist is always looking for more volunteers to help us in our day-to-day affairs. Read below to see some of the different ways you can serve the church and the community.

Serve the Church

Every Sunday we rely on volunteers to assist us with everything from greeters to ushers to administrative assistance. We typically rotate volunteers on a monthly basis. Current volunteer needs include: building opener, greeters, counters, and ushers.

Serve the City

We partner with several exceptional organizations in Lafayette who are on the ground doing important and vital work in our community. We are grateful for the expertise that they bring to address the needs of all kinds of individuals. Here are a just a few ways you can get involved in the community, or places to find the assistance that you are looking for:

- Baptist Student Foundation: The Found is a campus ministry at Purdue University. If you are a college student trying to find a place to be part of on campus, contact Rev. Rodney Lynch at 765-743-2371.
- LTHC Homeless Services: We partner with LTHC Homeless Services to help individuals who are experiencing homelessness.
-Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM): We partner with LUM and 40+ other churches in the community to serve individuals in our community who are in need of various kinds of assistance.
-The Tippecanoe County United Food Pantry is sponsored collaboratively by Church Women United groups from churches across the community, including First Baptist. Located at 1314 Fourteenth Street, the food pantry is typically open on Tuesdays & Wednesdays (across from the old St. E's hospital.)

If you are looking for assistance, First Baptist Church hosts the Health Hut & Free Community Hot Lunch on the second Thursday of each month beginning at 11 a.m. This opportunity to serve the community is possible only through the partnership from The Gathering Church, Kate's Kauz, The Buttery Shelf, the Lafayette Lions Club, and First Baptist Church. Hygiene items and gently-used clothing are available beginning at 11 a.m., and a free hot lunch is served at 11:30 a.m.
