Clearly: An Epiphany Sermon Series |
Have you ever had a moment in life when all of a sudden (SNAP!), you could see everything so clearly? When what had been hidden and undefined, confusing and nebulous, (SNAP!) unexpectedly becomes apparent, and obvious, and well, clear? When what had been obscure (SNAP!) abruptly becomes visible, and now you are able to understand with perfect clarity?
Sometimes, we have these kinds of experiences internally, where all of a sudden we achieve clarity about a problem we’re facing. Or sometimes, when we’re trying to make decision that seems utterly impossible, the solution becomes obvious seemingly out of nowhere. Sometimes, we even have these moments of clarity in our relationships, suddenly fully able to understand the whys behind other’s behaviors.
During the season of Epiphany, we are remembering together the ways that God made Godself known clearly in the world through the person of Jesus, also known as a season of manifestation. Manifest means “clear or obvious to the eye or mind” (hence the word “clearly”). But Epiphany also has a definition that gives the sense that it is a “moment of sudden revelation or insight.” Join us as we traverse through this rich Gospel that is working to show us exactly what “God’s grace looks like, feels like, smells like, & tastes like.”
