About this Sermon |
Acts 16:11-15,40
In Acts 16, Paul’s missionary journey takes him to the city of Philippi, where he meets a God-fearer named Lydia. After speaking with her and the others gathered for prayer near the river, Lydia’s heart is opened and she believes in Jesus. After being baptized along her entire household, Lydia immediately offers whatever she has to be used for God: her home, her status as a merchant, her wealth, even her social status in the community. How might we respond to the good news in the same way?

Who are the people who have helped you to feel God’s love in startling ways? Who are the faces of your faith? This summer we’re digging deep into bold and untold stories of those often overlooked in our biblical narratives, hoping these characters remind us that we all play a role in shaping God’s story of redemption and grace.*
