About this Sermon

The vivid word picture found in Hebrews 9 is about sanctuary, going back to the camping-appropriate Tent of Meeting that the ancient Israelites used when they were wandering in the wilderness. But, as the writer of Hebrews reminds us, Jesus provides us a new way forward in worshiping God because Jesus makes sanctuary for us. Who are we making sanctuary for, and who are not?

About this Series

Hebrews is a mysterious member of the New Testament, one that we often do not spend much time in trying to understand.  Although scholars cannot tell us who exactly wrote it, nor to whom exactly it was addressed, scholars can tell us its purpose in being written was pastoral in nature:  attempting to reassure members of a fledgling community to not become disheartened by reminding them of the reason for their beliefs:  Jesus Christ. This series on Hebrews will explore the vivid word pictures used throughout the writing of Hebrews which help us remember the power and majesty of the person of Jesus, as well as connect the dots to related, contemporary issues facing the church community today.
